Open Plea To John McCain

Dear Mr. McCain:

I am a citizen of the United States of America and I am a supporter of Barack Obama. But first I am an American. I may not agree with your positions on the issues that effect our nation, but if you were to win the fairly and above board I would support you as our Commander and Chief, as would all Americans.

However much I disagree with your positions, one thing that I feel is that you are an honorable man with the utmost integrity. And it is to your sense of honor and integrity that I make this plea. There has been much discussion circulating around the internet stating, for example, that the Republican in the swing states are purging voters, mostly African American and in Florida, refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives. In New Mexico, half of the Democrats of Mora County, a poor Hispanic area found that their registrations had disappeared. Voting is probably the most cherished gift that the framers of the gave to us. It’s integrity must be protected because it is the cornerstone of freedom in our nation.

It is my hope, Mr. McCain, that the honor and integrity which led you to such selfless acts of courage and loyalty in Vietnam, would also drive you to demand that only a victory untainted, and without a hint of impropriety could ever be an acceptable victory on November 4th. I do not believe that a man of your values could live with the doubt that will forever cloud George W. Bush’s true right to the Office of the President. The of this country is very fragile, Senator McCain, and we, in our hearts and souls, need to know that whoever wins, without question or shadow of doubt, the office of the President of the United States, was elected, placed in that position by the will of the people and not it was not appropriated by those with greater power.

After the African Americans, Hispanics, the poor and the elderly can cry foul - the National Committee can file suits, but we all know that once the poles close the outcome is a fait accompli. What is done is done forever, and remembered forever.

And so I implore you, sir, as the leader of your party and possibly the Nation, to use your power and your position to ensure that win or lose, on your part, and on the part of your party, there will be complete transparency, honor, and faith in the people of the United States of American to rightfully exercise their one moment in time, to guide their own destiny and elect the President Of The United States Of America.
